Smith Management Group earns green certification
Smith Management Group has become the first business of its kindin the United States to earn Green Business certification from theGreen Business Bureau.
For certification, Smith Management instituted an energyconservation policy and formed a “Green Team” to complete theapplication process. Green initiatives include establishing apaperless billing and reporting program; purchasing officefurniture made of recyclable materials; using post-consumerrecycled paper, folders and paper towels; formalizing an in-houseprogram to recycle paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and aluminum;automating office heating and cooling systems; recycling inkcartridges; installing energy efficient lighting, as well as lightand water sensors; and eliminating paper, plastic and Styrofoamproducts from the corporate kitchen.
Smith Management Group, headquartered in Des Peres, manages morethan 100 communities in metro St. Louis ranging in size from 15 tomore than 800 condominium and single-family homes.
